  3. This sample was archived because its core functionality, the modification of Standard File to not show custom icons, is a user-level feature, not a developer feature.  Moreover, this feature is unsupportable as the system evolves (for example, Navigation Services).  Finally, in modern systems, Icon Services provides a real API for turning custom icons on and off (SetCustomIconsEnabled).  The fact that this is a pretty good sample of an INIT/cdev combination does not overcome these problems.
